About My Horse Handbook

Welcome to our site and thank you for joining us.About My Horse Handbook

My name is Heidi and I have two wonderful horses, CP Mystic Illusions (aka Bill) and Jonny ‘N’ Dry (aka Jon Boy).

That’s Jon and I in the photo to the right at a Natural Horsemanship clinic late last year, and my darling Bill and I in the photo below.

While I owned and rode horses as a child, after 20+ years without them, my life felt empty and I decided to put aside all the reasons why not and add a horse to our family again. This was 4 years ago and what a steep learning curve it has been since then with my now two fabulous geldings.

Once Bill came home to live with me I very quickly realised that “You don’t know what you don’t know”. This may seem like a strange statement at first. I thought being a vet nurse with many years experience I had a pretty good handle on what it took to keep a horse healthy and happy but after so many well meaning people telling me all the basic things I needed to do for my horse I began to realise that I knew very little indeed.

There is a well know saying in the horse world – “Ask 25 horse people the same question and you will get 25 different answers”. It is easy to become overwhelmed by well meaning people giving you advice from all directions, some advice you might ask for and some you may not!

OUR AIM

The aim of this site is to provide you with a Guidebook which includes basic, easy to understand information, acrossAbout My Horse Handbook a variety of horse ownership topics such as feeding, worming, rugging, riding, groundwork etc. While not everything in horses is black and white, and there are many choices you will need to make for your horse, we hope to explain things in a way that helps you make informed decisions, so you can provide the very best life to your horse.

You can learn from my mistakes, have a giggle or two at the antics of my two boys as I share their stories and experience new ideas, products and theories to help your horse(s).

If you ever need a hand or have any questions or topics you’d like to see us cover, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

Your friend,

Heidi
